Restoring Clear Vision with Expert Care

Cataract is a common vision problem, especially among older adults. If left untreated, they can lead to significant vision loss and even blindness. At Tej Eye Center, we specialize in advanced cataract treatment in Ahmedabad, offering state-of-the-art technology and experienced eye specialists to help restore vision and improve quality of life.

What is a Cataract?

A cataract is the clouding of the eye's natural lens, which leads to blurry vision, glare sensitivity, and difficulty seeing in low light conditions. It can develop due to aging, diabetes, eye injuries, prolonged exposure to UV light, or certain medications. While early-stage cataract can be managed with stronger glasses and better lighting, surgery is the only effective treatment once they start affecting daily activities.

Signs & Symptoms of Cataract

If experience any of the following, it might be time to consult an eye specialist in Ahmedabad:

  • Blurry or foggy vision
  • Sensitivity to light and glare
  • Difficulty seeing at night
  • Fading or yellowing of colours
  • Seeing halos around lights
  • Frequent changes in glasses prescription

Advanced Cataract Surgery at Tej Eye Center

At Tej Eye Center, we offer cutting-edge cataract treatment in Ahmedabad using modern techniques such as phacoemulsification and laser-assisted cataract surgery. Our experienced cataract surgeons ensure a safe, painless, and quick recovery process.

1. Phacoemulsification (Phaco Surgery)

This is the most commonly performed cataract surgery. A tiny incision is made, and an ultrasound probe is used to break the cloudy lens into small pieces, which are then suctioned out. A foldable intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted in place of the natural lens.

2. Laser Cataract Surgery

This is an advanced, bladeless procedure that uses a femtosecond laser for precise incisions and lens fragmentation, making the surgery even more accurate and minimally invasive.

Principles of Cataract Surgery
  • In cataract surgery a small ultrasonic probe is inserted through a tiny incision on the edge of the eye. This probe gently breaks the cloudy lens into tiny pieces and sucks the cataract out of the eye.
  • The traditional phaco surgery uses more energy while removing cataract like jackhammer. Because of heat produced during the procedure, large numbers of endothelial cells of an eye are destroyed contrary to newer procedures.
Treatment

Surgery is the only treatment of cataracts. Cataract surgery is considered to be one of the safest and most successful procedures performed in medicines today. The surgery involves creating a microscopic incision through which the cataract is removed and a replacement man-made intraocular lens (IOL) is implanted. This small incision seals itself naturally and allows for rapid healing.

  • Proven Patented Ozil® Technology
  • Capability of performing Micro incision Phaco
  • Most widely used Phaco system in the world
The Benefits
  • 10 minutes painless procedure, no stitch, no injections and no patch surgery
  • Customized to your individual eyes and needs
  • Enjoy crystal clear vision with lifestyle IOLs
  • Less energy utilized during cataract surgery
  • Precise, accurate incisions and treatment
  • Resume daily activities like cooking, watching TV, taking bath etc. within a few hours of surgery.

Lenses

Monofocal
  • These lenses can restore clear vision for one area of focus only, usually distance vision. You will still need to use glasses for near activities such as reading, sewing, writing and using the mobile
Multifocal
  • These lenses restore vision for near as well as distance and greatly reduce the dependency on glasses after surgery. Some patients may require glasses for intermediate use such as while using a computer. Sometimes, optics is associated with glare and haloes in night time.
Trifocal
  • These lenses are advancement over standard multifocal lenses which provide near, intermediate as well as distance vision and are hardly associated with glare or color halos
Toric IOL
  • Astigmatism is the cylindrical component of the shape and number of the eye. If you are planning a cataract surgery and have high astigmatism, you may be required to correct this in addition to the conventional spherical power intraocular lens, to ensure better clarity post-surgery. These lenses are called TORIC LENSES. They are available in Monofocal and Multifocal varieties. If the cylindrical power is left uncorrected, the person may require glasses to improve clarity in vision even after removal of cataract.
Aspheric IOL
  • match more closely the shape and optical quality of the eye's natural lens, and thereby can provide sharper vision — especially in low light conditions and for people with large pupils. Popular aspheric IOLs that are FDA-approved and available in the U.S. include: Tecnis (Johnson & Johnson Vision), AcrySof IQ (Alcon), and enVista (Bausch + Lomb).
Better contrast with Aspheric IOLs than spherical IOLs
Spherical IOL
  • A spherical intraocular lens can induce minor optical imperfections called higher-order aberrations (HOAs), which can affect quality of vision, particularly in low-light conditions such as driving at night.

After a thorough check-up, if you are diagnosed as having a cataract, you will be advised by your doctor about the cataract removal procedure which involves removal of the clouded cataractous lens using the appropriate technique and replacing it with an artificial clear Intra Ocular Lens (IOL). The surgery takes few minutes and the patient is discharged the very same day.

Laser treatment may be recommended for people with diabetic macular edema (DME). The goal of this treatment is to prevent further vision loss. The laser seals leaking blood vessels, reduces swelling and prevents new abnormal blood vessels from growing. For macular edema, the laser is focused on parts of the retina outside of the macula. Multiple laser treatments may be necessary. Laser treatment is not a curative procedure and does not always prevent further loss of vision.
