cataracts. Wear sunglasses that block
UVA and UVB when you are outdoors. Ask
our

wear hats.

Manage
other health problems. Follow your
treatment plan if you have diabetes or
other
medical conditions that can increase
your risk of cataracts.

I have been detected with cataract. What
should be my next step?
After a
thorough check-up, if you are diagnosed
as having a cataract, you will be
advised by
your doctor about the cataract removal
procedure which involves removal of the
clouded cataractous lens using the
appropriate technique and replacing it
with an
artificial clear Intra Ocular Lens
(IOL). The surgery takes few minutes and
the
patient is discharged the very same
day.
What if I want to delay the surgery by
some time?
Laser
treatment may be recommended for people
with Diabetic macular edema (DME). The
goal
of this treatment is to prevent further
vision loss. The laser seals leaking
blood
vessels, reduces swelling and prevents
new abnormal blood vessels from growing.
For
macular edema, the laser is focused on
parts of the retina outside of the
macula.
Multiple laser treatments may be
necessary. Laser treatment is not a
curative
procedure and does not always prevent
further loss of vision.
